Let me try and explain. It’s a new manufacturing method based on “machines that build the machines” (quote from Elon Musk). With this new method the US manufacturing industry hopes to reach a whole new class of customized and optimized products.

Let’s hope spring manufacturing and production keeps its great development even during following decade. We need more advanced tension springs, stampings and wire products to lighten the day for many industries.
Prams. That is truely a world that causes a lot of anxiety. At least it did for me when we were going to buy one for our daughter a few years ago. I mean, they are not cheap and you want as much as possible functionality for you money.
Tension springs are designed to give a specific pull force when extended to a specific length. That’s why they are perfect for prams and their needed functionality. Tension springs can also be made very small to follow the development with more compact prams.
Have you ever been to a movie set? I haven’t but I would really love to some day. In the mean time I must say how impressed I am with the camera men working day by day with carrying heavy equipment around.
But there are great solutions for this. Looking at the picture above you see an attachment that is designed to remove the up & down movement when walking, using components like tension springs. Also giving the camera man a more ergonomic work environment.

Did you know that the classic toy Slinky actually from the beginning was just a spring dropped on the floor by mistake?
Yes, that’s correct. The toy sold in more than 350 million all over the world was invented by mystake. Apparently the creator Robert James was working on a tension spring when he dropped it on the floor and “watched it slink away” across the flor. And the “Slinky” was born. How cool is that?!
Tension springs can be either customized or standard springs. It all depend on the usage of the spring, what spring force you need etc.
To calculate the spring force at a certain length, the travel in mm is multiplied by the rate (R) + the initial force (Fo).
How many different kind of gym machines really exists? Soon exercising won’t give the body needed resistance because the machines do the exercising for us. Or am I wrong? Hopefully all new gym equipment make sure we trainer harder and more efficient.
